Joy Wood, Flower Guild Coordinator

Flower Guild

Dear Family of Holy Comforter,

I would like to express my gratitude for your comments on my floral arrangements.  When people tell me that my flowers are beautiful, it really is a compliment for God's creation.  I pray to God before I arranged His beautiful flowers.  God could have put us on this earth with no beauty.  Just some manna and bare earth, but He wanted us to have wonderful food, beautiful trees for shade, flowers for our eyes to enjoy and fragrances to calm us and to enjoy. He gave us sunshine, rain, rivers, lakes and a sea that continues to amaze us.  He gave us talent to copy His work on canvas and to carve statues to make our lives beautiful.  He wants us to live in beauty.

I believe that He gave all of us different talents to make our world more interesting and comfortable.  We must not hide our talents. God gave them to us and we should use these talents to glorify Him and to celebrate His love for us. The main flowers are prayers for the people who have placed their requests on the Flower Chart, and the background flowers are for the people who ask me to pray for others and for the prayer list in the pew sheet. I will be glad to break down the large arrangements for those who would like to have an arrangement to take home or for someone in the hospital.  Just tell me before or after the service.

I am grateful that God has blessed me with a friend whose talent is also a gift from God.  Connie Rosa has blessed us with her talent many times and she arranges the flowers to thank our awesome God.

The Flower Ladies

A little over half the time the floral guild is able to have two people help with the floral arrangements on the altar for Sundays.  At the greening of the altar and at Christmas and Easter there are several from the congregation to help.  We have men and women on our Flower Guild and are always open to new people to joining our team.  We are also open to interested youth.  Please contact Joy Woods, our Flower Guild Cooradinator, by contacting our church office, 281-353-9169, or talk with her personally on Sundays at the 10:30am service.
