Upper Crust elects new officers, planning bus trips for fall...

GAIL SCHENCK

On June 30, Upper Crust held its annual meeting and election of new officers. The venue was a pot luck meal and we held the meeting in the parish hall of the church. We had 30 people attend and all of the food was delicious. We have a new slate of officers:

President: Joan and Alex Reed

Vice-President: Joanne Bergey

Secretary/Treasurer: Gail Schenck

Historian: Mike Pennell

Scrapbook: Sandra Bekech

Trip Coordinator: Lee & Dianna Stein

Bus Scheduler: Cindy Dennis

Bulletin Board: Bob Schenck

We voted to donate $200 to Precinct 4. We give them a donation every year because they are so good to

us. They use the money for their senior programs. The buses for our trips are free. It is a great program for seniors, and we love it. We have plans to buy a new Fair Linen for the Altar Guild. They are working to get the measurements and the cost will be about $300. We do about three fundraisers a year, two ballgames

and the pancake supper on Shrove Tuesday. We thank everyone for their support because it allows us to buy items for the church. On July 14, we took bus trip to Conroe to see "MASH" at the Crighton Theater. It was hysterical and everyone enjoyed it. Before the play, we had dinner at Margaritas, a Mexican Restaurant in Conroe. The food was good and everyone enjoyed their meal.

FUTURE EVENTS

Aug. 4: Bus Trip to Georgetown to see the Inner Space Caverns

Sept. 16: Ballgame -- Astros vs. Pittsburgh (Bus for Upper Crust)

Oct. 13: Bus Trip to Tomball to a Nature Preserve. Bring a picnic lunch, walk the trails, and just enjoy the scenery plus commune with nature. We will pack a lunch for our bus driver also. We have had picnics and find them relaxing.

Oct. 27: Halloween costume party at the Timber Lane Water District building. This will be a pot luck dinner

and there will be prizes for costumes.

All of the above events will be posted on our bulletin board. Times and directions (as needed) will also be on the bulletin board. Check the board often to stay informed. We want everyone to participate. Congratulations to our new officers. If you have any ideas for trips or things to do, please contact Lee or Dianna Stein. Until next month, stay cool and comfortable. Keep your eye on the bulletin board.
