Holy Comforter Episcopal Church

VBS
Wednesday

Bet you are wondering what goes on in the Rain Forest at Holy Comforter.  Have your outfitters told you stories about how much fun they are having?  Let me tell you what happens in our Rain Forest.

First, we all get together in the Worship Center for songs and a video drama. The drama story is about three children who attempted to capture a butterfly and were separated from their parents.  Ask your outfitters about Gabbie, Zack and Pete and what happened today in their adventure.  After the video, we say our VBS Scripture, motto and pledges of allegiances to the American flag and Bible (God’s Holy Word!).  More songs, hand signs and offering are gathered for our missionary in Malawi.

Following the worship rally, the Monkeys (3-5 yrs), Parrots (6-8 yrs) and Toucans (9-11 yrs) visit three areas.  There is the snack area in the SNACK LAGOON.  During the snack time, your outfitters have a teaching about the day’s theme.  Today’s theme is God is the Great Healer!  Wow!  Today the snack was a sugar cookie that was broken in half.  The children iced the cookie and joined the cookies together.  Their teacher talked about how Jesus mends our broken hearts and heals us.

After snacks, the group moves into the Mission Outlet for a story about missionaries. So far, we have talked about missionaries in Brazil and Tulsa, OK (Yep! There are missionaries in the United States doing God’s Work!) and today we talked about a medical mission in Northern Thailand.

Lastly, games and crafts filled part of your outfitters time in the Rain Forest.  They are having such a good time and we continue to have NEW OUTFITTERS join us each day! Word is getting out…there is a lot of fun in our Rain Forest.

At the end of our time together each day, Monkeys, Parrots and Toucans gather for final songs and a sharing of our day in the Rain Forest. We celebrate a good day with music and fun.

Please don’t forget that on Sunday, June 30th at 10:30 am your children are invited to the closing of our Vacation Bible School. They will sing some of the songs that we have learned this week using the hand signs they have learned. The game lagoon and the Craft Lagoon will be open on Sunday so that you may visit where you children traveled.

We truly are thankful to you for gifting us with the presence of your children.  Please know that your outfitters’ teachers are excited to see your children and pray for them by name each day.  Thank you again for allowing your children to participate.
