Acolytes

Acolytes are persons trained to carry the cross, candles, and incense into the sanctuary at the beginning of worship and to assist other worship leaders during the service.

The word acolyte means "follower or attendant." In the early church, serving as an acolyte was one of the first steps in becoming a pastor. This was a way for pastors to learn about Christian worship. Worship is a group event and a time where everyone can come together to share their talents, gifts, skills and ability to glorify God. Acolytes are needed because they have a special ministry to perform during the service. As an acolyte, you have an important job and responsibility to ensure that the worship service is one that allows everyone attending to experience the wonder and love of our Lord.

Children are invited to become an acolyte when they enter the 3rd grade. Adults are also invited to be an acolyte. If you are interested in becoming an acolyte please contact Kelly Gibbs.
